Just De-Fund The Reform

I've been having conversations with clients and friends about the new laws and I keep hearing a solution that sounds to me like it has legs. With all the legal complexities a repeal of the law(s) would involve, and given that there is going to be a new Congress in November, what's wrong with the concept of simply de-funding the whole thing?

It would fall off the radar and some sensible legislation could be drawn up and we'd have solution that actually solves problems instead of one that just creates them.

What say ye?

Re: Just De-Fund It...

Would not get rid of all the new federal mandates, reviews, requirements, etc.

I think it's too late for anything good to happy. Our country is so screwed. We're being governed by morons (with apologies to real morons).

Re: Just De-Fund It...

Oh, I agree, we're in deep ****, but without enforcement and without money, surely things would turn around somehow.

It's like having an alligator on a leash in Maryland. It's illegal. There are lots of useless laws on the books. I guess I'm just hoping these, too, become irrelevant by non-enforcement and because there is no money behind them.

It's still complicated, but I think there is merit to the notion. Especially since the douchebags on the Hill are being ousted in a few short months. I realize that another group of douchebags will be taking their place, but at least there is a chance, however miniscule, that they do the right thing.

(I realize that's a long shot...!)

True defunding the legislation leaves the mandates on the books just like our federal laws enforcing the border and illegals. Or for that matter Medical Marijuana is still illegal under federal law but is not being enforced by the adminstration. It all depends on what Congress and the Adminstration want. They could still walk away from this...Not that they will.

Re: Just De-Fund It...

How do you de-fund the tax increases? Somehow, I think those will stay.

Re: Just De-Fund It...

Dick Morris has suggested the same thing.

He says we wont be able to overturn it (unless the Supreme Court rules against some/all) until after the next general election. But if the Republicans have control of the House and enough votes in the Senate, they can simply opt to direct money elsewhere besides the Obamacare provisions.

Seems over-simplified to me, but I am not as smart as Dick Morris.

Re: Just De-Fund It...

Tricky Dick : wasn't he found one time on the end of a dog leash being walked by a hooker? Weren't there pictures of this when he was working for Clinton released? What a guy.

"The emotionally crippled Morris, who has never been able to maintain a meaningful relationship with his wife, has a long history of seeking out prostitutes. In 1991 he fathered an illegitimate daughter with Texas escort Barbara Jean Pfafflin. Then, while working for the Clintons, he got in trouble for hiring a $200-per-hour whore named Sherry Rowlands. Worse, he let her listen in on calls with the President. Not surprisingly, Rowlands went public for $50,000. During a Hard Copy interview, the hooker gave the world a rare peek into Dick Morris's bizarroland, revealing that the Beltway heavyweight's favorite sexual fetish was toe-sucking."

Re: Just De-Fund It...

Yes, I'm hoping this will all be defunded. There's also equal odds that I can buy a ticket tonight and 23 14 23 85 29 will hit.

Re: Just De-Fund It...

Moon: Love the history lesson. I still like tricky Dick, to the disdain of AL3. Who cares.
