I was a captive agent, just left the company. My licenses are currently in limbo. I am licensed in Illinois with P&C, life, health, and 6 & 63. I am looking to get set up with an independent broker. I have a opportunity to partner with a couple of car dealerships in Michigan where I can potentially get anywhere from 5 to 30 deals a week for auto insurance. I just got a non resident producers license in Michigan. I am not sure what my next step should be. How do I get set up with an independent broker in MI, or do I get set up in Illinois? What's an average commission split ? Who do I need to talk to? I will be in Troy Michigan area if that helps. I need to get the ball moving ASAP. Any info on this transition would be greatly appreciated.
