Keyword Research- Where to Start?

Awesome, awesome posts, guys, thanks. Exactly what I needed keep the momentum going- THANKS!!

Hey YGMM, you give me some more advice on what you do on the article writing stuff? I hit and SEO forum or two and shot out some emails on the article writing and am finding plenty of people wanting to write articles.

I'm not sure I'm able to articulate what I need, though- mainly because I'm like every chic I've ever dated and dont really know what I really want.

I'm basically looking for someone to write an article and submit it to ezine or goarticles? Something like 500 words on what my target keyword is? Then do that for 10-20 articles? Am I getting that right?

And I take it you'd use the SEO forums over elance or fiverr to find the writer? Do you go over the copy and make sure its up to snuff, or just let it fly as is?

Well for Ezine type Article Site submissions, this guy is good, GUARANTEED APPROVAL: Google News, Youtube + Submission to: Social bookmarks, .EDU blogs, Wordpress.com, OnSugar.com, Webs.com, Tumblr - Buy/Sell/Trade Marketplace Classified Ads - Traffic Planet.

For 25, you get a unique article written and researched, which results in about 5-8 article site links, plus about 20 web 2.0 blog posts, which averages to about $1/link. Just make sure you give more than 1 kw, 5 keywords would be good.

For website content, you can find good content writers on traffic planet in the classified section I think.

OK, I'm about to spend some money on the stuff above (and others) for the articles and submission and such to promote my site.

I did the 30 days free on SEO Moz and am looking at keyword research, but I feel like all that did was open the hood on the car and I still dont know how the engine works.

I need to give them 5 keywords for the article submission mentioned, so that'd be like "Georgia Life Insurance" "Life Insurance Georgia" "Diabetic Life Insurance" "SBA Life Insurance" "Easy Life Insurance Quotes" for longtail?

And I can wait a bit for "Life Insurance" "Life Insurance Quotes" "Term Life Insurance" and such because the competition is too much?

Am I on the right track here? I'm ready to get them going, but do know the GIGO rule so want to give them the right stuff to get decent results...

I'm in GA, but am licensed in about 20 states. I was thinking national campaign.

Really the only tool you need is Google Adwords Tool:

https://adwords.google.com/o/KeywordTool

If you have an Adwords account you can get up to like 800 keyword recommendations. The report shows Competition, Global/Local searches, Cost-Per-Click and other things.

Another tool that is good is Google Trends:

Google Trends

This will show you how certain search phrases are trending and links to articles.

SEO is pretty simple really. In order for your content to show up in search engines you have to include those search phrases in your posts. Google also uses combinations of words so if you have "Auto Insurance" at the top of an article and "Quote" at the bottom you will still get credit for "auto insurance quote".

The key is not "keyword stuffing" your articles to the point where they don't make sense. It is better, in my opinion, to write 1 professional article with helpful advice than to churn out 100 low-quality keyword-stuffed ones.

The reason is, if you write a unique article that addresses a problem that people are searching for help with... then you will show up 1st in Google if it is a quality article and people will actually share your content. This will result in tons of free backlinks and boost your site's authority.

Other than that, you have to keep advertising no matter what. And I'm not talking about posting free ads online (which helps). I'm talking about buying Banners on high traffic websites and magazines, newspapers, billboards, ANYTHING.

As long as you keep advertising and putting out good content, your site will get shared and rank high.

The problem with google's keyword tool is that they only seem to return phrases that they know they will make adwords revenue from.

What I like to do better is go to google.com and enter 2 or 3 main keywords and see what auto suggestion phrases pop up. you only get several phrases instead of 800 with the keywords tool. but those phrases are based on what people are searching for instead of being phrases advertisers are bidding on, which in many cases are much less competitive.

Some fake companies offering stuff to promote but they don't give any payment and also send viruses in attachment so only.I think you start with the registered sites because there is less chance of fraud......
