Last post before I get back to studying.

Can we not make every thread a political or social justice statement? It's tiresome.

I think that's a great suggestion.

There a times when insurance and politics overlap. Having a discussion about policy is fine. However, it ALWAYS devolves into a circular argument. Which is quite exhausting.

What we should really do is not try to play gotcha when people make posts. If someone says something outlandish inappropriate, just block them. My list grows often.

They continue to have the right to say whatever they want. They don't have the right to force you to listen.

I use my real name on this post and you definitely know what I live on my profile. The point is, this forum isn't private and it's definitely in search engines when you ask specific insurance questions.

I'm just giving the OP some shit for saying something ridiculous. Sorry to trigger you.

I'm not triggered, but I understand your need to defend your actions by attempting to make me look less than. That speaks more about who you are than who I am.

Just gets old constantly seeing people carry this to every thread they participate in. Just leave it the one where it started. No need to carry this torch into every thread in which you have beef with someone. The topic of this thread is passing a securities exam.

I just saw you exhaust the shit out of yourself the other day about health care/Dems/Socialism/etc, and God bless you for it.

I respect you and your opinion a lot...but I'm just giving the guy some shit. He seems like he genuinely wants to help people in this business, so if he's about that, I really do hope he passes his test the second time around*

*but dammit, I'm gonna get my ONE crack in from the Stanford post. That's mandatory. Call it a 'gotcha' post if you want to. Had I made a similar post, the board would be laughing me out of every thread ever. Whatever board blowback I get on that, it's worth it.

I feel no need to defend my actions. I'm just breaking the guy's balls, that's all. Feel free to do what Travis Price suggested and block me, or feel free to continue this as long as you like. You have the right to respond to something I say that you don't like.

So, you're absolutely right. There are times when politics, government, and insurance run into a ball. Then there are times that politics doesn't.

I respect you and your opinion a lot...but I'm just giving the guy some shit.

Thanks you. My "biggest issue" is that your post could definitely and immediately be taken out of context by others as really offensive.

The initial comment (I didn't see) would definitely be gross. However they way this forum technically works it only shows so many posts per page.

So we never see the context, we just see a really gross response. It makes you look like a scummy a hole.

I'm just telling you from experience that you can beat you head against the wall or pick your battles. Or else a lot of people that have a strong feeling that's opposite of yours (but really great experience) will just ignore you.

In other words, just pick your battles.

1. You're right. It's way too inside of a burn if you hadn't seen the other thread. Ole' TRG could've had better execution. Duly noted. I'll edit the original post to put the problematic phrase in quotes, but I don't see the need in exacerbating this by getting the exact quote box from the other thread.

2. I know you mean well when you say pick my battles, and I appreciate that...but being PC can't just work one way.

At this point in my life, if me not looking the other way each and every time someone says some borderline to outright...problematic chit bothers them to the point where we can't separate the business from the personal, then please do ignore me.

I had to be that guy for many years that had to just look over or act like I didn't hear something. Once you get past the financial benefits, not having to just roll over and ignore verbal diarrhea is the #1 benefit of being independent. I value that more than 'unlimited vacation,' lol.

I halfway wouldn't trust them or their information anyway...rather just air it out now and get it over with. It's not like I'm worried about losing my salary and benefits.

I can completely appreciate that. However, you're not really being PC, IMO. You're not engaging in it and you're really not going to change anyone's mind. You can express an opinion for sure and I definitely express ones that are not popular and call a spade a spade when it's someone being ridiculous.

However, I'm just saying about THIS post, probably not the best simply because no one knows what you're talking about. Picking your battles is really about trying to find an opportunity to discuss topics that everyone is on the same page about what the topic is...

For example, you'll see topics about how Democrats and Joe Biden are just evil and Republican's always do what's right... Go for it. Trying to pass a series 7, probably not a politics debate, even if that guy is being an a hole.

Nah, what you'll really see (and this is part of the problem) is topics that aren't necessarily about that but devolve into that. It usually is no problem as long as it doesn't make 'certain folk' uncomfortable. It's only 'getting old' and 'tired' when 'youknowwho' have the nerve to speak up about it. Also, you'll see topics and threads that are just straight up problematic, then when 'youknowwho' have the audacity to speak up about it, then it becomes a problem (which is where this particular thing stems from).

Look man, if a dude blamed my entire race on a public forum for him not getting an acceptable test score, then he turns around and lets it be known on a public forum that he didn't get get an acceptable score on a different test, then I reserve the God given, Tom-Freakin-Brady American Right to burn him one good time...ON A PUBLIC FORUM (unless the mods ban the Florida Man), same thread or not be damned. The context and presentation might not be pretty and admittedly definitely could've been presented better, but I know I'll sleep better tonight.

Regardless, I hope he passes his test the second go round...and I appreciate you fighting the good fight. I still agree with the majority of what you said in your last post. I'm just tired of having to be so, what's the word I'll choose today.... 'humble.'

Look, @TRG1225 made a joke that was clearly referencing another conversation. Was it in poor taste? Probably. Anyone that is offended can ask him to apologize. Anyone that "gets offended on behalf of others" is more of a trouble maker than trouble solver, unless they have been appointed to that position. If you really feel he created a problem, then report him to the admin and move on. This started out as what was debatably a bad joke, and has been worked up into much more with the back and forth.
