For one lead that comes in through your website, I would simply put it out there, and have someone in that area contact the person.

I've done that for two leads I've received, one in NY and one in OH. To charge for ONE lead, in my personal opinion, is a bit, well, unprofessional.

You (I) build relationships with agents in other areas by referrals, whether they pan out or not. As Ed Harris' character, Coach Jones, said in "Radio", it's just the right thing to do.

Agreed. Charging $6 just seems cheap. Better to make a friend and offer the lead for free.

Unless of course you're $6 short on paying the rent on your mobile home.

It is too bad professionalism is not part of your style. You should get off your high Ed Harris horse and go out and sell something, rather than posting negative comments on an internet forum.

I paid for a lead from someone here and thought I was doing a service for an agent in the area. Leads are purchased all the time and most of them are shared. I paid google at least that much for advertising and thought breaking even was not a bad thing to do. No, I don't need the $6 to pay my lot rent. That comment shows that person is the low life.

Looks like I will pick up some more NR Licenses and take care of these people myself.

now now....no need to get huffy. I did get a "free" referral from an agent not licensed in Ga, and did sell that referral. I had the usual expenses....gas, time and servicing. Nothing was said about referral fee.

I tried to return the favor with an out of state client(turns out he wasn't licensed there). Seems to be the best way to handle these.

It's only $50 bucks to get a NR in Georgia (I think). But good luck on finding rate information in Georgia. What is competitive in Iowa may not be here. And you definitely won't get it from the Georgia DOI website.

I have to side with #2 and the others. I give out leads all the time to folks in other states and have never asked for a dime. Heck, I even pass off leads to agents here in GA on lines of coverage where I am not prepared to do the right thing by the prospect and again, never ask for a dime.

Seems pretty petty on your part and then on top of it all, take it back when no one wants to pony up $6.

Turns out someone does want to pay the $6. Someone who is not looking for a handout.

I paid someone here for a lead and that is how I got the idea. What if I got a hundred of these every month? Gee , I could pay the whole trailer payment with that!


As it is; there is Paypal, there is an aquisition cost for this lead; and I am not in the business of handouts.
