Leads to sale ratio

Hi, thank you to everybody for your time.

What's the ratio between leads to appointments made to sales being generated? I've never done it, so I'm just curious, thanks.

It really depends on a lot of variables.

If you want some starting numbers to play with:

Out of 10 leads, you should be able to get 3 appointments and one sale.

Now, are there people that take 10 leads and get 8 appointments and 7 sales? Absolutely. Part of that is on the agent, part of that is on the leads.

If you make 100 cold calls on a targeted list, you should get 1-3 warm leads.

Now, the term "lead" can mean a lot of things. If you're talking about internet leads, it's not uncommon for people to fill out garbage information and/or have other problems with it, so simply getting a "good lead" can be a real challenge. Because of the variables involved, it can vary a lot.

But, like I said, rough numbers, 10 leads, 3 appointments, 1 sale, that should give you at least a benchmark funnel to look at.

What types of leads were you looking at?

10 leads at $30 a lead your not making at least 2 sales and really 3 you won't be in the business long after charge backs, lead costs , full fica taxes of 15.3%, vehicle repair and maintenance costs , your own benefits like health insurance . I'll be honest . Unless you're doing $150 k min premium at 120% min commission id find another line of sales work . I'd look at medical supply rep . Benefits worth $40 k for a person with a family .

You should be shooting for setting appointments for half of your leads and the selling about half of those. So, it would break down to selling about 25% of the leads you get. 20% isn't too bad either.

I was looking at life insurance leads, I've never done it. I've done it completely different, such as calling business cards, ads in magazines or walking into people's offices.

$180 k times 80% persistency is $146 k . 20 leads a week to do that is $32 k so down to $114k . Family health ins is $18 k a yr . Down to $96 k . Gas driving 600 miles a week is $50 a week min . Down to $93 k . Car maintenance for driving so much $2 k a yr . $91 k . Extra fica tax of .7.65% $6500 . Down to $85 k . Other exp's like e&o and office stuff $2 k a yr . $83 k net . Zero retirement or long term disability . That's worth $ 20 k a yr . No Sick days , vacation days . Like I've said this is why people start recruiting. That's were the moneys at . You better be doing $250 k a yr min .

Personally I can't remember the last appointment I've run where I didn't make the sale. It's been a few years or so. But, I'm commercial p&c working only by referral, so it's a bit different story.

And I can't remember the last Medicare referral I had I didn't sell . What p&c and Medicare have in common is you must have it . When it's mandatory it's easy to sell .
