Okay Senior, thank you; but wait... that is Conventry's example or interpretation... I was looking for something in writing by the Gods of Medicare - if applicable? Did you stop and compare Coventry's to Pyramids guide by any chance? If so, do they match?

So according to Coventry, we can go to 'any flavor' within the MA-PDP is that right? Or am I not reading this chart right?

I am still going to dig for this.. hoping I find.

retread,

i don't operate that way. maybe you do; and that's okay but if something is not or does not work well for a client, I'd like to know what I can and cannot do down the road hence the post. If I have all the carriers and plans,(a work in progress now) then I can 'swich' if needs be. Apparently, BCN is supposedly suppose to be good here. Okay, I hate HMOs personally, but I have to ascertain network... still in progress, if client is okay with HMO, great. But, what if one is not - something goes wrong like too long for PAs or hates the specialists or whatever.... operational issues, etc. etc.; a client may want to 'change' out of HMO and go to PPO or PFFS MAPD - WHY I SEEK THE INFO. NOW... you see..... trying to plan ahead.. these folks cannot aford true med supps hence the alternative programs...

but I can respect your practice. it's not mine, though.

Thanks for all your input so far everyone.

I've done some research (okay, talking with carriers) and find that you can go from MAPD to MA and PDP. I always thought this was wrong but it appears it can be done.

But I wouldn't stake my life on that answer.

I have read in several places that if you join a standalone drug plan while you are in an MA that you will automatically be dis-enrolled from the MA plan. Scratching my head trying to figure out how that works with the information from the carriers.

That only works with MAPD, not stand alone MA's.

Just got done with Wellcare training/recertification. The regional director stated that you could not make a switch from MA-PD to MA-PD in the OEP only MA to MA. Of course I told her I thought she was wrong. She said she would check and get back to me today. She also stated that face to face is required for PDP. I told her if that's the case, I'm out of the MA & PDP business. She said she would check the validity of that statement as well. There is no way I'm driving all over town for a $50-$70 enrollment fee.
