Fire Hazzard. Not just EVs. Scooters, golf carts, power tools.
EVs I knew, I had not thought of all the other stuff I own that is battery powered. Tools alone I have a bunch of 12 & 20 volt batteries.

Yeah, gonna be nearly impossible to insure some of these EVs. Between the general huge labor & material costs in regular claims & now this more common risk of burning your house down.

Saw some videos of cars burning down houses in only 6-12 inches of water

Can't imagine the carbon footprint of the car & house burning

Add toxic fumes to the smoke inhalation.

I Can see governments like in California forcing insurance companies to insure EVs. Which will drive up costs for everyone else. A tax.

It practically is now.

Why do you think Tesla has their own insurance company?

Ignoring the facts that you point out (although valid), they're almost always a total loss for any accident.
I work for a carrier that is mostly PC carrier & also have teen drivers......................most cars right now are being totalled also if they are more than 4-5 years old. Crazy how expensive repairs have gotten. Just 11 months ago bought back my daughters VW Touareg from insurance company for the salvage value. Literally a single dent on back tailgate was $9k to repair which is what the blue book was.

Bought it back for $3k & bumped the dent out as there were no deep scratches.

$9k for a stinking tailgate

I started to sat I would be ticked if they totalled my paid for 3 year old car. And had to buy a new one.

However, give me 9k, and It cost me 3k and a mallet? That works for me.

Did you give her the 6k?
