Local marketing ideas

The Bear? I just noticed that. I miss that guy...although I'm still steamed how one of his teams kept Penn State from winning the National Championship. I can see that play in my mind. I think Barry Krauss was the LB, but I'm not sure.

Yeah Ed, my brother in law loves him too - he's a Penn State grad and ardent athletic supporter.

Took $100 off him Monday night, he's got "Big Ten"itis. Only had to give the line (4 pts) as well....

Like takin' candy from a baby.

Good stuff John...some food for thought.

Look for a group that is diverse. My group has a dentist, welder, baker, payroll processor, electrician, psychologist, car rental lady, house cleaner, concrete worker, carpet cleaner, banker, real estate agent, appraiser...you get the idea. Look for a good mix of blue collar and white collar professionals.

Great suggestion, Krono. I am looking for a diverse group that includes prostitutes!

To get serious, don't you guys think that those magnetic signs on your car are tacky? They remind of those people who have a sign on their stating something like "Want to lose 30 lbs., Call me at 1-800-xxx-xxxxx. Let me tell you how." Also, why would any successful agents want to defile their Bentley with plastic signs. IMO they are very unprofessional----OK for NASE but not for real insurance.

Well just go on the Vegas trip. I worked security in a casino. Hit the casino bars. See a hot chick who smiles at you? She's a hooker - and she also takes Visa. No kidding on that either.

It depends on what's more important to you..."being professional", or getting results.

Arnguy, I had to strongly consider how I felt about putting them on. Many of the realtors here use them as well as the State Farm guys so I guess I'm in pretty good company.

As tacky as Little Caesar's pizza having a mascot at the corner with a sign? Or someone driving the wienermobile around for Oscar Meyer? Burger King now has the strange king as a mascot and I take my kid to Chuckie Cheese and someone walking around in the mouse outfit?

Maybe the magnetic sign "could" be cheesy but not actually getting graphics on your vehicle. In fact, most company cars have their business name and number on their vehicles.

We have a "famous" local dentist - Dr Gallagher and at every event he has someone in a dinosaur costume handing out freebies to the kids.

Maybe at my local events this year I'll have the health insurance moose.

My Blue Shield rep had magnetic signs when he was in production. Very successful but...people would steal them! Why, I have no idea. For driving around, on, for parking it was always a question.
