I am looking for a mentor to help expand my independent agency. In terms of finding strategies that could help make become a top producer. If someone can explain what has or has not worked it would be appreciated.

Typically, if you have something to offer, an experienced broker, if they have the time, will work with you. Of course, finding them can be a challenge.

It sounds like you need a mentor in the true sense of the word - someone to work closely with you and help you grow. You will have to provide something in return for their service to you.

Some things you might offer the mentor:

Bringing your mentor to your clients to share in new sales as you are mentored

Contracting through your mentor so he/she can make money as you succeed

Forming a strategic alliance between your agencies that generates income for your mentor in some way

Finding a soon-to-retire mentor who wants to pass along, sell, or create a royalty agreement for their existing book of business.
