Looking for Ins Company to Pair with That Serves CA

I'm in Ohio and have been licensed for a few years, and I have some folks to help most likely with whole life (perhaps single premium in this case) and deferred annuities that live in CA.

I'm looking for a company to register with as an independent that serves and has a reputation in CA that my folks would be comfortable with. Should I be looking at companies that serve nationwide in general or are there some that are great specifically out west?

Any guidance is appreciated.

MassMutual is good for whole life and annuities. I'm also contracted with Ohio National and I think they may have a few similar products.

For SPIA and rated SPIA I like Mutual of Omaha.
