Looking for the Right Agency Opportunity

I recently got my p&c license and am now looking into captive agency opportunities. In the long run, i plan to go independant; however, since I'm new to the industry I want to get the best education possible. I've been doing a lot of research on the big names like SF, All State, and Farmers but all the negative comments are making me uneasy. With this in mind, I am leaning this way because of the training they may provide. can anyone recomend any companies in Sothern California that meet my critera and provide any relevant info. In order of importance these are the things I am looking for in a company:

1)Training and education
2)The ability to keep a BOB or not limited by a non-compete if i decide to leave
3)Most unrestrictive contract

Thanks in advance for any input/info

Look at Liberty Mutual they require no start up costs, they pay for your training, marketing, computer, etc. and they will teach you the business. Once you learn what you need and have a faithful following of clients start your own agency.

SF, Allstate, etc. have good training I would assume but they require a financial commitment.

thanks any other info

Bswan98588,

thanks for the PM but i do not yet have 20 posts to reply. Thanks for the PM,

The training i would require is just basics like product knowledge and writing up apps. I'm more so just looking for a company to get my feet wet with. I would prefer a independent brokerage over a captive company as i have been interviewing with SF, Farmers, All state and am not really interested. I have a B2B sales background and am just looking for a new career choice. im located in the Los Angeles area. let me know if you see this thanks.

Find a good local independent agency that's looking for some part time help. Offer to answer phones if that's what it takes to get in the door..

Too bad you're not in the Denver area.. we're looking to bring on some new folks in our agency.

Good Luck

When I was with State Farm the region out west was begging people to come out there for opportunities. They had positions going unfilled. Find a recruiter to talk to.
