Companies come and go but over the years, Settlers life has proven to be a class act. Their people are always friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.
Their first year commissions aren't the highest but for those that plan on staying in the business and building a residual account, their 10 year payout is among the highest in the industry. Plus, they continue to pay commissions after the policy has been in force 10 years..they don't switch over to a non vested "service fee" as most companies do.
The premiums are competitive and the underwriting is fair and consistent. Wrote three apps with them on Friday.. two level benefit, one graded. Did the POS on the two level benefit plans when I took the applications. Faxed the apps on Saturday evening which means they didn't get them until Monday morning. The policies are shown on the NB report as issued on Tuesday. Commission will be in my checking account on Friday morning.
In addition to the way they treat the agent, they always go the extra mile when dealing with you clients. You never have to worry about a client calling you fuming with the way they have been treated by a HO employee. The HO is in Bristol, VA and the Policyowner Service folks are all local. There is something to be said about Southern Hospitality.
The agent and the client can also be assured that the claims will be paid fairly and promptly as long as the application is completely honestly and correctly. In 2011 Settlers Life paid 8,070 death benefit claims and rescinded only 93, a claim payment percentage of 98.86%. Those 8,070 paid claims represented a total of $25,328,916 in death benefits.
I don't recruit, but I am sure if you get in touch with the forum's Newby, he would be glad to provide you with information about the company.
