LTC Replacement

An association discount is only good if the rates are competitive to begin with.

Very true. And association discounts will vary based on the size of the association.

Also, you always want to make sure an association policy is portable. If the has money troubles on down the line and cant pay the association fees, she wont want to loose her LTC insurance...

you let them know you are in no hurry, you have no idea what the costs are, and ask what they can pay. Just get the application signed is all for now.... keep it simple remember.

Ok, while I get where your going with this statement, imo.. its off.

Tell a client that you have no idea what their premiums will be, but to just sign the app..... Have fun with that....

You tell the client that you "dont know what their exact premium will be, but you do know a range".
Then you say to the client: "if your budget is in this range we should run an application through to get a hard figure"
As NDM pointed out, its not hard to field underwrite a client. So your range should be very close.

To just say that you have no idea shows the client ignorance on your part.
You have to think like a client does; they are not going to want to wast their time with underwriting if you cant tell them an estimate on the premiums

I'm new to the forum but looking at it right off I see a LOT of Arrogance. Most with the NAMES of these folks...."Expert..." "THE SMARTEST AGENT"..."Iknowmorethanyou"....lol~ It's kinda scary...he he he

Jane,
Most people on this forum who are arrogant, are so because they know what they are talking about.
Believe me, you cant get away with being arrogant on this forum without knowing what your talking about!!!

There are A LOT of experienced agents on this forum, and when someone gives bad advice they call it out, when someone doesnt know what they are talking about they call it out, when they smell BS they call it out, and when they smell a SPAMMER they call them out.

Responses may seem a bit curt at times, but most agents are on this forum to increase their knowledge, get case help, and to network with other knowledgeable agents; the above scenarios do not help to achieve this at all.

If someone who has questions wants to learn, then this forum is usually extremely helpful in that aspect.

Basically, there is just a very low tolerance for BS in this forum!!

Oh, and if your referring to the names you see under the screenname such as "guru" "super genius" "expert" etc, it is referring to the amount of posts and tenure a user has in the forum. The forum does this automatically...

Well, I figured out the "Super Genius" "Guru" "Expert" thing yesterday...after the fact.
And for anyone reading anything on this forum, they should have enough sense not to take everything they read as FACT.

I do appreciate you trying your best to let me know that "arrogance" is a part of this forum. It's good info. and I am having a fun time anaylizing their walls, knowing they can't be themselves ...but instead, someone they want everyone to acknowledge they are.

It's just a forum...I'm here to take what I can use, and leave what I can't. Guru's/Expert's are smarter than the next new member? Doubt it....but possibly more experienced and more arrogant at their small accomplishment to earn a living. After money, then what ...their personalities? :nah::D Just a perspective

Thanks everyone for responses. I am working with my manager, however he is about 3 hours away, so I am waiting for him to come back and we will revisit client. As far as the rate, I know what it would be. The client doesnt have any major medical issues, so we dont have that to worry about. Her concern is the high increasing premium and the 180 elimination period. That will be a huge expense if policy is used.

Jane, as far as unlimited those rates are very high and from what I am learning is really over insuring the client. Most people I meet with are just wanting SOME protection to supplement their nest egg incase they need LTC care. So, the years of coverage is going to be determined by each clients needs, assets, etc...

I take this very serious and will not flip unless its is the absolute best decision for this client. We are in no hurry, but will let you know once we have made final decision.
