Magazine Ads

I placed an ad, in a motorcycle mag, for a certain product and had good enough results to do it again. The mag also placed my ad on their website. I paid 145 for the ad and they designed it for me. It was 1/4 of a page. Was in the monthly mag, but was on the website until other ads replaced the space. Took about 6 months for this to happen.

If you use the right product and right mag, this can work.

Less and Less people are reading the newspaper and mags, but a lot of people still do. I have about 5 mags that I get every month. LOL, don't try and guess them. My wife would die without her fav mags. Don't forget that most mags also will place your ad on their websites also.

I have not in that type of a magazine, but I've seen a ton of them. I think you are on to something with this idea.

Be sure and let us know your results.

Let us see what you end up with. Also, when you get finished have a couple of ladies look at it that are not in the insurance business and see what they think of it.

The ad is not going to cost as much as I thought. The lady in charge emailed me a price list and the size ad that I want will be just under $900, but the magazine is a bi-monthly publication, so we'll see what it does over the course of a year.

Good input.

Magazine print ads can work, for some items. In case you have missed it, magazines & newspapers are hurting. Folding left & right.

Why?

Print ad revenues are off.

Way off.

Not that I read women's magazines, which I don't, but print ads for insurance that seem to work (because they are always there) are for things like Globe Life's coverage for children. Supplemental plans (the Duck) also are repeat offenders.

Of course most, if not all, are carrier ads, not agent ads. I can't say the carriers have all the answers. If they did, they wouldn't need us.

There are no insurance ads, but the thing that interests me, is the women reading the mag are the same type that my wife sends to me as new clients.

I just wanted to see if any of the pros had done something like this in a local mag that targeted a very narrow slice of the population and if they had any numbers to share.

For ex. I've purchased internet leads going on 6 years now. I close 17% and that number holds whether I go back 3 months, or 3 years. Direct mail - 10% of what comes back. Mag ads ? we'll see.

In the current enviornment, I don't think these numbers will hold up and am going to plan some different things. Bitness is still strong, but a lot of that has to do with referrals.

Another Idea that I have is open up a pawn shop, but that's another story.

Buy life insurance before taking that step. If you don't know any life agents, I can probably come up with a name or two . . .

Keep us posted on what happens. I have seen ads in neighborhood newsletters by local agents. Most are P&C (Allstate, Snake Farm) but also see some LTCi ads. Can't say how well they work but the ads do repeat.

One is a "mom oriented" monthly publication for residents in an upper-middle class section of east Cobb (suburb of Atlanta). Dimensions are roughly the size of National Geographic but maybe 30 pages or so on newsprint. Lots of stuff on school sports, recipe's, community events, etc. Most of the ads are mom oriented . . . day care, summer camp, etc.

On the other end of the spectrum is a monthly aimed at the senior market. They publish over several counties. Mostly ads about reverse mortgages, retirement communities, etc.

FWIW, ask about writing a column. Some publications will offer a free or reduced ad in exchange for regular content. They will usually place a small ad next to your article and a larger one in another location.

I would love to open up my own funeral home.

Maybe you two should get together.

Mark can remove the gold fillings, Bill can buy them and melt them down into new bling.

Great idea. The price of Gold is going up. The funeral business is a great business. The recession has not effect on funeral homes. It may even help make more people dye. I may can even sell some life insurance to the deceased's family members.

Also if they can't afford the funeral, they can pawn something with Bill.

I think we are on to something here.

And I'm not sure what yours is, either. Is there a link?

Interactive Mediaworks is the preliminary link to the product information (it's about 12 minutes long, but should definitely be watched the whole way through to get the most accurate idea of how the magazine production works). The video will be finalized shortly and we'll have a personalized link available then. If you watch the video, please include "Titanium Introductions" in the "Who Referred You" box so we can get the credit for it if you would be interested. If you decide you are not interested after watching, no harm done. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions - thanks for your consideration.

Well, the pawn business is where my family started, I need to go back to it one day. Just wish my father was here to enjoy it.
