Big vote on Sat?
C'mon stick yer necks out? It's fun.
I say it won't even get to a senate vote.

Somebody finally counted the votes. Due to being a 'tad' shy, they have probably pushed the vote back to Sunday, maybe Monday, maybe Tuesday.

It surprised me that they basically admitted they don't have the votes to pass this. I figured they would blame the republicans.... oh wait, they did.

It will pass in the house, but obviously fail in the senate.

But yes, I am surprised they are pushing this back even more.

Anyone voting for this bill is going to be voted out next year.

The vote will be pushed out because that is what Washington does when the votes aren't there. Then add some amendments and go again. Rinse and repeat.

I am sure Mr. Obama is extremely anxious to see a bill come out of the house and/or the senate and/or both. After all, how else will he know what Obamacare is until Congress tells him. He has no bill of his own out there anywhere. Cynical as it may be, it is about as true a statement as can be. Leadership? You decide. Apply this same leadership style to Afg and watch the troops die.

Are you kidding me?
No entertainment on Cspan tommorrow?
I've been waiting for this all week.
Boy oh freak'n boy is this gonna come back in spades come 2010 mid terms.

Still in Afghan. / Iraq.
Economy not great.
Health insurance ..., I,uh, I mean reform non existent ...

Maybe they will get real about HR once it is too late in 2010?

I have many issues with this "reform" which may summed up in these 3 points;

1) no legislation before has ever required 2000 pages to write,

2) a $250,000 fine and 5 years in prison for non-compliance, and

3) congress members are exempt

Going to turn my back on the vote until tomorrow. It is going to be close. Looks like it will pass by the slimmest of margins but some members will say that they cant vote for it in final form when it comes back from conference committee with the Senate if certain elements still are or are not in it. So go figure what that means in the scheme of things. They are not going to have much of working margin there that is for sure and if the senate roughs up the bill which they most certainly will they are going to need a wider margin to still be able to take hits and have enough members left to support it. The whole abortion amendment is such a wild card and you have the far left saying they might vote to pass the bill even if the abortion amendment passes but they most definitely will not if it is in the final bill.

That's my guess of where it will end out anyway as of 8 pm. EST. Probably be easier to just not guess rather than embarass myself but why change now?

:)

I want it to pass. No, seriously - enough is enough and I can't stand listening to Pelosi yap on endlessly. Pass it. Then let it move in to the Senate where it hits the big-boys table.

Anti-abortion amendment passed - no funds for abortions (with rare exceptions - probably life-saving only) for any plan sold in the exchange including public option.

Here's a statement Reps. Louise M. Slaughter (D-N.Y.) and Diana DeGette (D-Col.), co-chairs of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus:

"Placing onerous new restrictions on a woman's right to choose sets a terrible precedent and marks a significant step backwards. This effort will effectively ban abortion coverage in all plans, both private and public - marking a significant scaling back of the options offered under existing laws. Such a terrible, last minute amendment to a critical, historic piece of legislation is a shame. This kind of outrageous interference in health care by the government marks a sad day in this struggle and will result in women across America losing the right to health care."

The pro-choice'ers will lose their minds over this.

I should add, it is still open, somebody could change.
Right now, vote count is 218 to 214 with 3 left to vote.
