Male or Female

Just curious as to who does most of the buying when it comes to Med Supps and FE? Male or Female. Maybe you sell both the husband and the wife, but who is making the final decision when it's a couple and who are the buyers when it is single purchase?

Thanks a bunch!

When there is a H/W involved there usually is one of them that makes the business decisions, but won't do anything unless the other is comfortable. So a one legged presentation is still a waste of time.

That said, most of my clients are female due to the earlier mortality ages of men.

I'm an old traditional feller....I still run my household from start to finish every day.
I think, and it has been my experience with the few sales I have had, that the old firm traditional ways of the male being the head of the household, still hold with seniors.

But, that way of thinking has deteriorated drastically in recent years.:1eek:

Not true. If you have one half of the couple sold on the policy and they really want it then they will help you sell their spouse. As if I need any help selling the person who is not there anyway and when I come back and meet them both and two of us are working as a team the other party will fold like a house of cards. When you really sell someone good and get deep in their head its like you have cast a spell on them. They want that policy so bad they can taste it and they will do everything in their power to help you convince their spouse to buy it. Ive had wives shout out at the kitchen table to their husbands "just shut up and quit jacking this guy around and sign the application!". I find myself almost wanting to tell the wife that she can not talk to her husband like that. Almost!:1eek:

When I meet with both a husband and his wife more often than not it is the woman who makes the final decision. Many times I have had the guy get up from the table and tell his wife to let him know if he needs to sign anything.

When I call on the phone, if he answers he will usually say, "my wife takes care of that" and passes the phone on to her.

Also, it is most common for the woman to have the checkbook and write the check for the first months premium. Remember, I sell mostly in the country. That isn't necessarily my experience when selling in the St. Louis and KC areas, however, I don't do that very much anymore.

The wife generally takes the lead, however the husband does have veto power. When the wife does not think life Insurance is necessary for her husband,I politely gather my brochure or whatever info I'm using and get out as fast as I can.

For some reason the majority of my medsup/medadvantage
clients are single, but the wife still takes charge if it is a couple, not always, but the majority of the time.
