managing workflow selling commercial lines while working another job

If you have a years worth of living expenses, then quit the day job and go FT in insurance. Live like a pauper and work everyday. As another poster shared, you will hate the day job more and more. If you catch the bug, insurance is all you are going to think about anyway. Plus, if you learn to ask for referrals and cross-sell the other lines and round out each client, you will make money. The hardest part is prospecting and where most fail. You have to hustle several years before business starts rolling into you.
