As a side thought, I receive lots of junk faxes at work. Are they all illegal and subject to fines?

Just another way to impede commerce and generate money for useless bureaucrats.

I just got a fax yesterday from Superior Court of Fulton County (Atlanta, Ga) about a pending lawsuit. (who told them they could fax me?)

Seems a sign company is suing a home services co for sending thousands of ads to fax machines in metro Atl, and they assumed I was one of them. Now this is class action.

Yep, lawyers and courts get money, the defendant gets financially wiped out, plaintiff gets his satisfaction, and the country is served!!

Unless they have your permission or you are a current client all faxes are illegal. If you had the time and mental energy you could sue.

I recommend that you don't do it. I had a friend that got sued for doing it and it's just not worth it.

I work in an older agency and we have many current clients commericial clients who only one or two policies with us, I spent a few minutes faxing 40 of them yesterday. It was something I hadn't done before, my own training has been limited to say the least in prospecting but everyone in the agency has been great about helping me with anything else. These folks haven't had to prospect in 20 years and they make their entire living off of the current books.

Never mind the legality or illegality.

When I get a spam fax it pisses me off royally. If someone wanted to make sure I never do business with them, all they have to do is waste my paper and my phone line.

One *** office supply company I used to deal with in the days when fax paper came on very expensive rolls, had a glitch at their end that sent a fax endlessly. I came in the next morning to find a mountain of expensive paper curled all over the floor.

Junk fax is about like sending junk mail COD and having the recipient pay for your paper.
