Med Supp Agents Re: Admiral

You know what I was thinking? They should cut med supp rates in half and tell the doctors that they don't have to accept it if they do not feel like it.

There is nothing that says that any doctor has to accept Medicare and a Medicare Supplement.

I have some clients in Colorado Springs who tell me that they know of several doctors who have stopped accepting patients who are on Medicare regardless of what else they have.

Yes. The majority of doctors in the country set their fee schedule at four times what Medicare pays.
I've heard from a number of doctors that Medicare has a better (higher) fee schedule than PPO plans. In fact, one specialist I know dropped all PPO contracts but will accept Medicare and HMO patients. He says the HMOs pay better than PPO!

I'm going to convert all my Med Supp clients to MA and my PPO clients to HMO. I think I'll be doing them a favor.

Rick, I thought that MA was an all encompassing term used for HMO, PPO and PFFS, those plans that fall under Medicare Part C. You said you are going to convert your Med Supp clients to MA. MA what? Do you know what you are talking about?

Is it that difficult for agents to use the correct designation when talking about MA plans? If one means a PFFS plan then it only takes two more key strokes to type that than it does to type "MA". This way everyone will know what is being discussed.

Your plan sounds like a hell of a deal. You can stand beside the guy who learned to "sell" MA plans in three days. (What a joke!)

Frank - you really need to learn something about MA plans.

HMO plans are not always available so sometimes I have to use PPO or PFFS. So I am correct in saying that MA plans are the best there is...well, after Medicaid.

Agents who sell supplements are really just in it for the commission!

No, I understand the various MA plans that are available extremely well. I'm just saying be specific so we know what in the hell you are talking about.

If so why didn't you say so? Since you have determined, with very little substantial information, that HMO's are better for doctors than PPO's then by all means kiss the doctors ass at the expense of your client.

And then you said "...and my PPO clients to HMO". If I remember correctly aren't you getting around $650 per app for doing that?

You can be such a jerk sometimes, you know very well that it takes at least three years for an agent to earn $650 in commission from the sale of a Med Supp.

I guess they use a different kind of math in the PROC.

If I thought for one minute that you actually believed this, "So I am correct in saying that MA plans are the best there is...well, after Medicaid." I would make you to to the blackboard and write "I'm a dumb ass" 12,437 times or until you came to your senses.
 
It's a good thing MA plans don't pay commissions like supplements. Them zero premium MA plans would kill me!
