Medicare Supplement Questions

Your area is definitely more expensive here in FL but you can do better than RNA and Sterling. AARP's "J" plan is $229 for male or female, smoker or non smoker and MoO is 231 for a female "F" plan, which is a lot better than your $100 MA plan.

Just to compare, here in central florida they are $161 and $153 respectively

I really need to get better commissions though, I only get $150 ONE time for AARP and only 10% for MoO with residuals

I'm up in the panhandle...get $210 for 6 years on each AARP policy w/$157.50 advanced when issued.

Get 16% for 6 years on MoO med-supps and my commissions are low compared to other agents on here. Get a one-year advance when issued.

I feel for you.

Who ever you are contracted through is making a ton of money off of you. You should be getting a whole lot more than that.

Hearing stories like that is why I got involved in helping agents.

Im contracted through great american. I am meeting with someone this week who won't be able to give me training, because he works in P&C, but he said I can use his office to call out of. Im guessing he might want a small percentage but it will be worth it.

I need an office to work out of and right now I drive 1.5 hours to work and this guys office will be about 20 mins.

I can't help with an office but the training part is not a problem.

Have you looked closer to home to see if there is someone who may have a small space in their office area that they aren't using that might consider letting you use a desk for a moderate fee? It wouldn't have to be an insurance agent.

I don't have an office out of my place....I could call from my kitchen table but wouldn't I have to have a business name or something? Im not even sure where to start going completeley indy, including getting appointed with companies. How do I find out about getting appointed with not just med supps but life, annuities and LTC?

I started at the kitchen table. You don't need a business name, I still don't have one. My "official title", the one I use on my business cards and letter head is "Your Insurance Agent".

If you would like to give me a call I can get you pointed in the right direction and answer a lot of your questions regarding being an independent agent. It is really quite simple and easy and you can get started immediately.

For contracts I'd recommend Todd King.

You could work from your kitchen table. Is that a space where you have some peace and quiet?

You don't need a business name. It's purely optional.
