MLR Letter

Not sure this letter doesn't do more harm than good. At its heart, it seems to be complaining about people whose $30,000 to $50,000 per month income is going to be impacted. Oh, boo hoo.

The author should have clarified that - the agency in question employed a lot of people, and does a ton of advertising, which costs $$. His agency costs money to run (30K-50K isn't his bringhome paycheck). If it is who I think it is, and I am pretty sure I know, that agency spent years building up a book of business for several insurance companies with their own money and time (except maybe some co-op on advertising) only to see a big chunk of it taken back after the fact. Plus, I don't think anyone he wrote has seen their premiums go down because of this.

Maybe the author would have been better served using one of us peon agencies as an example instead? Talk to me - we just had to lay one person off just yesterday.

Again, condemning other people's success will kill this country.

Thx for sharing this.

Only two agents in Atlanta doing this kind of volume as far as I know. I usually run in to Ted a few times a year at meetings. Could be him or could be Tony.

Or someone I have never heard of . . .

Doesn't matter, but MLR is affecting not only agents but those who work as support staff as well. Obamacrap hurts everyone but the wealthy, and not just with regard to MLR.

That giant sucking sound you hear is agents, support staff and carriers circling the drain and the public isn't far behind as they struggle to find affordable coverage without the guidance of agents who understand the market.

Probably Tony because I think Ted has a large block with KP who aren't reaming the existing block like BS, who Tony has a huge block with, more than Ted (probably). Probably probably blah blah. Either way or either one it sucks for us because if he decides to discontinue writing ind then that means, at least in his mind it is a losing proposition for the long term. He of all agents can afford to wait for the dust to settle, and if he feels that it isn't worth it then that should tell the rest of us to stop spinning our wheels on this as well. Not that I think he is the "all knowing all powerful agent" but he ain't stupid either.

At least he has the nads to speak his mind and be heard instead of just sitting back to p*ss and moan...?
Way to cowboy up.
