MOJO Number for Today. Man Did I Get Beat Up

Looking at my scorecard from MOJO today I am thankful I have it, but overall my day seemed to suck. I have never been hung up on so much in my life. It's got to be my attitude!!

Total Dialing time : 05:27:35
Total dials: 445
Total contacts: 103

Bad numbers: 9
DNC: 5
Hung up: 24
Not interested:25
Other provider:17
PFFS(Nov. 15th, here I come): 11
Set call back:3
Trash(this includes the guy I acidentally called a jackass, and people on Medicaid, etc.): 9

Yesterday I dialed for 1 hour and made a sale. Who can figure it out. Just keep pressing forward. I'm ready for bed.:D

Am I reading this correct, out of 103 contacts you didn't set any appointments? Or are your 11 pffs' your appointments?

If you talked to 8 people on medicaid and you find quite a few of those you may want to pick up a medicaid product. In Florida we have Evercare and I usually write everyone who is on medicaid that I meet (T65)

Yep, no appointments. Every dog has his day. Some great prospects though.

You may also define an appointment differently than me. I don't just drop in. I don't visit just to visit, or drop off brochures. I give them a quote on the phone, if they like it I go, if they don't like it I start dialing again.

You can't sell to people on Medicaid in Virginia. It's illegal.....

Unless I saw a KKK poster hanging in your home or a burning cross out front, I'd have no problem selling you anything. You see guys, that is one of the huge differences between liberals/moderates and you neos. We accept "sin." :D

We don't wear our politics on our sleeves (or lapels). We allow (even encourage) free thought and divergent opinions. We listen to Rush and Fox and we read Lowry and Will. We're cool about doing business, having lunch, sitting in church next to, and even letting our daughters marry conservatives.

That said, we have certain lines in the sand you can't cross. We're not going to do business with the Joe Willson's of the country and probably not the Sarah Palins either. But most mainstream conservatives are nice people who are simply not well educated and who just don't know what they don't know.

UNLIKE you guys who WOULD PROBABLY NOT give financial advice to a couple of aging hippies living in Greenwich Village, we have no problem doing the same to some dumb-ass rural guy living in a trailer in East Hogwash, West Virginia. We see our role in helping people.

Neos are all about the money.

Be honest. You know it is true. BUT even money has its limits... you would rather lose a finger than have to sit down with a member of ACORN and discuss his or her life insurance needs.

We LIKE all people of all colors and backgrounds and political persuasions... so long as they are civil (i.e. not Joe Wilson.) You neos don't really have much affinity for anyone other than those who think, look, dress, pray, salute, and basically "act" like you.

I'm talking about the sub-set of conservatives, which I call neo-cons which in my opinion is the majority of people on the board. These are the hard-core "take no prisoner" conservatives... Archie Bunker on steroids.

There are only about 10 liberals on this board out of some 10,000 neo-con subscribers. Look how you "talk" to us. I have no doubt that if you could round up all of us liberals and send us to some kind of re-education camp (Camp Palin?) you'd do it in a heartbeat... and I have no doubt that ins.dave would be driving the train of boxcars taking us there! (None of you know what I'm talking about, but that's OK. I do. Never again!)

I can't speak for everyone it seems every thread gets sidetracked into a liberal-conservative debate; It is so frustrating.

Oh, yeah I def. don't do quotes over the phone. If Im calling a T65 prospect then I set the appt. by telling them I can simplify medicare for them and set an appt. A lot of times I get the sale and I cross sell LTC, annuities or Life...usually life.

Even if its a mailer or paid lead I usually just want to set the appt to meet with them. My chances of a sale go up when I meet them.

what about the increase in production and income after the change to Frank S. program and mentoring?????

Franks advice has helped me tremendously. He has taken many hours of time with me to explain Medicare and Medicare supplements and his willingness to help me out has built my confindence, and taken the fear out of speaking to people about their Medicare and supplement needs.

His cold calling techniques work. It is about timing and using a script with repetition works.

I know which plans provide certain coverages and can compare one to the other without any problems. I can explain each benefit in detail. I am a firm believer that knowledge overcomes fear.

Most of all, I have probably 1500-2000 names to call, of people who have PFFS plans in my area that I can call to set appointments with for Nov. 15th.

I had a sucky day in sales yesterday on the phone but I gathered at least 15 prospects to call in October and November.

Franks cold-calling technique can be used face-to-face as well.

I very rarely talk to T65 people because everyone else is and the pay sucks. I have T65 clients, and I am working one now, but he is a referral from a current policyholder of mine, that I cold called.

Al, you assume the con's are under-educated or totally uneducated. You might be surprised at just who understands your references-- to a tee. There is merit to all points of view, as the educated ones here have the sense to articulate our feelings above the rants which beckon regularly. As long as you "lefties" speak honorably you will have our ears. But, that doesn't mean that we will jump ship just because the waves are getting high.

May I ask how you get a list of people who are on PFFS? Can you get a list of people who will be losing coverage come 1-1-10? Or does the list you have tell you what plan they are on?

There is no list. It comes from prospecting and hard work

As a matter of fact, my wife works for the City of Charlottesville and makes the drive daily. I have an possible opportunity to open an agency in C'ville but there is no way I would work there on a daily basis.

You need to get a list of the folks who work with your wife and send them all a nice letter of introduction (to their work address if you can't get their home address) and a biz card and let them know you are honest, fair, and available for life and annuities and that all you ask is that they give you their phone number so you can call one evening. I will bet you lunch at the Boars Head that not one of them has ever been approached by a life/annuity salesperson. (Indeed, mention that in the letter and that you are not looking to beat the crap out of them but to simply EDUCATE them about OPTIONS that others are taking to shore-up their battered finances.)

I have not had much luck selling on that side of the mountain but I do work areas outside of Waynesboro.

Well, that side of the ridge is where the money is (although it is slowly flowing West toward you.) You need to LEAN how to sell to monied people and there are tons of them in C'ville and Albermarle and Nelson... and I'll bet many of them would be receptive to a lunch with you. You only need to sell a few of them and they will refer you to their friends. (If you are going to be a neo-con, make it WORK for you!!)

I had a face-to-face appt. in Winchester yesterday and in Fredericksburg tomorrow.

"Holy crap" (as Raymond's father says each night on TV) you drove two hours each way to Winchester and F'burg for an appt... when you have a ton of prospects in your own backyard? I would try to write those folks, but do it over the phone and internet... or do a split with a local agent. I hope to hell that you traveled all that way for a high-premium life or annuity deal and not for penny-ante Med Supp! Man o' man, you need a lesson in time-management (unless you really like to drive... and getting from W'boro to F'burg is a hell of a long haul. W'chester is fairly direct... 64 to 81. (You should have stopped off in Harriosnburg and left some cards and flyers there.)

One suggestion. You need to change the pix on your website. It makes you look like Lurch. Get something a bit more casual... more friendly. The lawyer/accountant "undertaker" look is out... people are looking for an honest friend these days, not a "Philadelphia lawyer" or an AIG executive.

I am now set up with a Mojo dialer, cell phone, the best blue tooth headset money can buy, a great laptop, and I can get 4 hours of calling and asking people to buy insurance as I am driving.

What bluetooth headset do you use that doesn't sound terrible? I have yet to find one.

Thanks
