Just recieved my clients Medd Supp in the Mail....Does MoO issue cards for the clients to use? Do they come under a seperate cover? Just need to know before I call the client to deliver this policy.

They do issue ID cards and they are mailed in separate cover to the insured.

MoO uses a third party vendor for their supp cards. They come in a seemingly plain white envelope about one to two weeks after the policy

Maybe I'm not doing this right, but I requested the policy be delivered direct to the client from MOO. I would assume the cards would follow directly as well if not concurrent with the policy.
Other than cross-selling opportunity or asking for referrals which is maybe stronger in the flesh than over the phone, are there any other reasons you'd want to hand-deliver the policy?

MoO use to mail all med-supp policies to the agent. Then they gave the agent a choice of having them mailed to the agent or insured. It was a question the agent could reply to on MoO's website...do you want policies mailed to agent or insured?

They also ask the question on the med-supp apps.

MoO finally got smart and has a weekly pay schedule you can access on the website...https://www.mutualofomaha.com/porta...s/broker_compensation/weekly_pay_schedule.pdf

To answer your question, I always mailed the policies to the insured when MoO sent them to me. I rarely deliver policies anymore.

My choice was to have them mailed per the website option (recently got appointed). I wonder if you decide to hand-deliver it because the prospect really liked you and invited you over to say to have a few shots of a 50 year old Scotch for instance, it probably can be overridden by indicating the opposite on the app.

Russ you confirmed my inclination, so I hope we're both right and the Godfather of Med Supps blesses this...what say you Frank?..... but I'll be damned if I'm going to pass up that 50 year old Scotch invite.

LOL....to the scotch invite.

If you plan on writing them some other insurance, I can understand hand delivering the policy. If you simply want to get referrals from them, why not call them to make sure their policy has come in and see if they have any questions and simply ask for the referrals over the phone?

You have my blessing my son. :D

I never have policies sent to me and I never deliver them. The only reason a policy should be delivered by the agent if the agent is afraid the prospect is going to cancel it. In other words, the agent used high pressure tactics to sell it in the first place. (Shame on the agent.)

I have never had to "resell" a policy. I don't blow smoke at my prospects nor do I use "high pressure". When they take a policy from me they make the decision that what I am offering is a better investment of their premium dollar than what they currently have.

Why would anyone change their mind after having already made that decision. If anyone can think of a legitimate reason why they would change their mind, then their reasoning is wrong.

Wow, I don't believe I just said that. That is sure to bring a whole bunch of agents "out of the woodwork". As the drunken mouse said, "Bring on the damn cat". :D

Oh, I sell Med Supps in the Missouri Ozarks. Instead of 50 year old Scotch, I frequently get offered five day old "white lightning". It's all good. What I don't drink I use to remove rust with.

I don't deliver the policy personally but I do check the box that says "send policy to producer" I do this because if you have the company mail out the policy it's not personalized at all. They just mail a policy which takes a philadelphia lawyer to figure out...plus they send a bunch of papers...privacy notice, marketing notice, etc.

It costs just a little more for you to take the time to put a cover letter just reiterating that they have Plan G or Plan F, it takes effect Jan 1 2010, they've already deducted the first month's premium and your next premium will be deducted on Feb 15th, etc, etc. etc. It takes an extra 5 or 10 minutes out of your day but it's helpful to the client to put the policy together, attach your business card, cover letter and go over what you helped them with. That way they don't just receive a packet of info that makes no sense to them. I always put a P.S. that your health card has been mailed out seperatley and you should be receiving it anyday.
