If I am licensed with two companies through a GA(key Broker) but not a captive agency selling Health Insurance am I still able to get contracted through different Insurance companies independently without and problems with the GA??

Have not told him as of yet I am trying to find out the answer to my question before I approach about the matter

If there is a problem...its with the GA...we never restrict our indep. agents unless they are using our leads...hence Indy! also make sure you get an agreement with the next for an immediate release.

should that be a written agreement or is an oral agreement fine

A little more Information on my situation I am working in the GA's office working off of a dialer producing my own leads . The GA'a expense would be the same weather I was in the office or not. I am licensed though him with only two companies out of many that are out there. In the situations where he does not give me a release I want to have some companies and some income to fall back on because the companies I am with though him is set up on advanced commission and there is a six month waiting period for both companies. At the same time I don't know if i am able to sign up with other companies even though its not a captive agency.
All responds are welcome and appreciated .

It appears you technically can contract with whomever you want. The GA may not appreciate it as it sounds like he has an office that you go to that he pays for, the equipment etc. I know I would ask you to leave if I had you in my office using my equipment and training to sell products that I was not getting overrides on. If you are feeling restricted, leave the agency and start your own as it sounds like you want more freedom and independence then you are currently receiving.

You'll need to run it past your GA. Some GAs will be offended if they see you're obtaining other contracts...especially if they offer those carriers. They could:

1) Cut you off from all support
2) Lower your commission
3) Put you as-earned if you signed up for advances

If you don't have an upfront release you're in trouble. If you're obtaining contracts the GA doesn't even offer you "should" be fine but again, if your GA thinks you're out writing for other carriers off of his training you could be cut off.
