Hello,

I am a student in the medical field and my wife is giving birth to our first son. I will be moving states every 3-6 months for my clinical residency. My wife will not be able to work and neither will I, as this is an unpaid residency for the next 18 months.

My school is too small to offer health insurance and because we are moving states every 3-6 months, I am worried about medicaid covering anything as the moves are so frequent. What are my options to ensure my child gets healthcare and my post-partum wife as well as we trek across the states?

Thanks for the help,

You can search in advance what the particular state offers as CHIP program, and apply in advance (before you move).
I can't say anything else without knowing your income. The above is based on a presumption that your family has a very low income (qualifies for Medicaid).
