Mutual Medd Supp Billing

How does the billing work if someone had a medd supp with Mutual of Omaha, AARP, or Genworth.

I know the bill goes to Medicare and they pay there share but what happens to the balance? Does the dr. bill the patient and then the patient sends the bill to the medd supp company? Does each company do it differently?

Thanks in advance.

"Automatic Claims filing" Medicare will file the bill with the clients med-supp company and they will pay the doctor.

Once a month the senior will get a statement from Medicare
showing what was billed what Medicare paid and what the supplement paid.

This is called "Coordination of Benefits" (COB)... look it up. It applies to doctors that accept assignment. Those who refuse to accept assignment will not have COB and are responsible to collect their fees on their own dime. That's one of the reasons why most doctors accept assignment.
