My First $255 Mailer

I am working part-time in insurance as I exit my teaching career. I have not yet done any final expense, but have been reading the forum a lot.
Today in my mail was the $255 mailer. I thought it was well-written and it very clearly said whole life insurance. After hearing everyone talk about it so much it was interesting to see it in with all my other mail. Man, I am getting old!

When I worked for First Financial Group out of Detroit they sold us those leads for $10 a piece. If I had to make a living running those leads I would go back to seling drug parafinalia.

There whole premis was to get the prospect to believe we worked for the government and specialized in medicare benefits. I don't like getting in under false pretenses.

WGO...that sucks! LOL

But, being new to FE I will say this...it's never the "lead". When I started in FE we ran DM leads that never used the word "insurance" just Final Expense Program to cover what social security doesn't. The last paragraph said in all bold letters to "sent this card back within 15 days of receipt to get your free drug, vision and dental discount card that will get you up to 53% off". Now...while other agents in my group would bitch every weekend at our Sat morning mtg's to the RD...I just...ran the leads and..."sold". That's what we do. Sell. Not take orders from leads. Unfortunately, many, many agents blame their failures on the leads. Leads are just a way in the door. They are request for more information. They are only as good as the agent running them as they say.

I'm NOT saying at all you are complaining so please don't take this that way at all. I'm just throwing out some advice before you fall into the realm. Because once you start to rely on the lead or blaming the lead...I would find another career.

Good luck to you. One last thing...I would take what you read on here with a grain of salt.

"All war is based on deception"... It appears that working for First Financial is like going to the battlfield on a daily bases!

Working for First Financial is just like going to war. You have the worst leads money can buy and the lowest pay plan I have ever heard of, 55 to 65%. They also hold back 10% of everything you sell to cover future chargebacks. Then after you leave they come after you for more. They give your sold policies to other agents to rework and resell and when they do its chargeback city, once again.

I gotta think its close to Lincoln Heritage except their policies aren't quite so high priced. They sell mostly Motorists which can be easily replaced by Americo or Foresters.
