No offense taken...... In fact thanks for the input. My dilemma is that there are 6 BNI chapters in the area and not one spot open for a P&C Agent (all are occupied by Farmers agents).

I have no problem paying the 300 and would probably pay twice that for the opportunity. In fact, I will probably pay at least that to start this one.

I understand the concept of getting what you pay for. However if there is no product to buy, do I wait around for somebody to make it or do I produce it myself.

My intension was to join a group and unfortunately none was available. However, one thing about my personality (that I rather enjoy) is once I get it in my head that I am going to do something, I usually am pretty relentless until I get it done.

Question for you stuy119 is what education, marketing and paperwork am I missing out on by not being a member of BNI?

First, you can always approach BNI about starting up a group. Basic backbones of a group are going to be a mortgage person, a realtor, insurance, and a couple others. BNI loves starting up new groups.

I don't know about New Mexico, but BNI in IL has a website which allows us to track all referrals passed and a handful of other things.

Education is EXTREMELY important, because BNI is always teaching you new ways to have others in your group to sell your business for you, how to qualify interest as referrals, and how to better market your own business.
