Good

The prospect of one-third to one-half of the insurance commissioners turning over in the next several months is not out of the question

Not so good

The consensus among most folks we've talked to: The work of the subgroup – which put in literally hundreds of hours of deliberations – shouldn't be overturned at the very last minute, before the [document] goes to HHS. 'I would be very surprised,' if the regulation changes much.

Very bad

I'm concerned about consumers and not agents or brokers. If the MLR rule ends the careers of agents...then so be it. We really don't need to pay them 20% of the premium. 4% is fine and if they don't like it, we'll hire some of the people that are desperate for jobs. We need to cut some fat from the backs of the health insurance companies and I think this is the way. Are you scared? You should be. This is "Insurance Forum Scare Tactics" and I made up this paragraph. I'm sorry. I couldn't help it. Really.

Your final paragraph was concocted as a joke, but those are almost exactly the sentiments coming from Liberal Democrats. Even though Kathleen Sebelius is a former state Insurance Comissioner, her dislike of health agents and the companies we represent is obvious as well.
