Maybe....for the very few who will be able to qualify.

"The state will receive $196 million to set up the federally mandated pool, which would provide coverage to about 5,000 people between now and 2014.

That's far less than the 2.5 million people with chronic conditions estimated to be living in Illinois, according to a recent estimate from the advocacy group Families USA.

Because demand will almost certainly outstrip funding, McRaith said eligibility will probably be limited at first to people with a "fairly narrow" list of health conditions"

So, I guess if you're on an iron lung you'll be in. Diabetics to the back of the line.

By the way, 5,000 out of 2.5 million who need coverage is 2%. Change you can believe in my a**. Al, please give me some needed outrage that this national "fraud pool" will only cover a mere fraction of the people needing this program.

$196,000,000/5000= $392,000 per person.
You say 2,500,000 in Illinois are in need does that mean just for Illinois we need to fund 980 Billion? What are the Numbers for the 10,000,000 uninsurable cancer Survivors? Guess we are just running up the debit so we can BK eveyone.

What, is enrollment in this plan not only free, but includes a 200k cash payout?

To cover the 40 million uninsured, we are looking at only $8 trillion if we can cover them at the bargin basement rate of $200,000. That is only pocket change to the Chinese, right?
