Ok, I'm on the https://portal.cms.gov website trying to enroll in that process. It says to enter my NPN which is (6) digits long.

The website states/insists that the NPN is (10) digits long so I can't complete the enrollment.

Any ideas? :nah:

I don't know what you did Doctor Duaine, but the CMS Enterprise portal is down hard...crashed.
:err:

Actually, it's probably undergoing major maintenance at this late hour (2:05am EDT). Doesn't take much of an imagination to guess why...or maybe it's a normal Friday night thing. We'll know tomorrow.

Hmmm....still don't understand the part where they want 10 digits for your NPN and there are only 6 numbers to give them.

Sigh.....:nah:

It wasn't up for agent certification last night the 10 digit number has something to do with your provider number which you do not have one unless you are a provider. It is still down and I would imagine they're having problems putting the agent certification on there. I think how many digits your NPN has depends when you were licensed, mine is 6 and I have seen some newer agents in office with as many as 8. I had to show them where to get it on nipr

well it's up now but I see no where for an agent

I think the contractor added a new addition on the CMS house today. Now it's up to CMS to populate it with the things we need in order to verify our identity. What's scary is that this portal is a component of the massive Data Hub that's central to how the Exchanges will function. Gulp!

My NPN # is 7 digits long.
Probably want you to put 0's in front of it

Negative! On that boring webinar the other day, this did come up and thanks for bringing it up here for me to remember. They know some people have fewer than 10 and like everything else they have done so far, didn't make this clear. It should read 'Up to 10 Digits'. They specifically said to just enter your NPN regardless of how many digits; do not add zeros to either end.
