Is this a REAL kompany?

This reminds me of a now defunct company that one of my carriers acquired several years ago. Apparently a group of agents had gotten control of the company and subsequently ran it into the ground. They made it as "agent friendly" as they could with little regard to best practice standards designed to keep companies in business. Little things like actuarial science, underwriting, plan design, etc. were apparently relegated to the back of the company bus in favor of products & pricing that made sales much easier.

The company that acquired them often hands me service requests to handle by phone when there isn't an active local agent. So, I've had the extreme displeasure several times of dealing with the messes these guys created. For example, they sold a UL that you could add multiple riders without changing the premium, which they wrote a lot of, often at minimum premium! Those policies all started blowing up right after the new company took over. (Naturally, the clients think the new company is the one with the problem!)

Running orphans, AOR, and taking pissed off clients was a big part of me building my book. And almost all of my door knocking experience. I still have a couple companies that send inquiries and problems. They = Money.

Yikes

And

Rewites.

Not complaining! I write a bunch off of those service requests. I've also got another company sending me a quarterly list of local orphan lapses. I either help them get reinstated, or rewrite them as appropriate. Then, (as you often say) I become "their guy" and get their family and friends, too!
