Greetings to all, never thought I would be in this business but here I go. I am studying to pass the health, life, accident in texas. Our office is in a rural area with just a handfull of agents. I have tried to find the bad and the only thing I can find is that it will be hard work. My first choice was NYL but they will not hire me because I was disabled and had no income and my credit suffered and we are facing bankruptcy. I was not dishonest but I told them if I had a job that I could pay these people back but it has been hard. any thought

Talk to Western Southern, Combined, Mutual of Omaha, or maybe a local Indy. You may be able to make some money with AFLAC but I think it will be hard to make a living.

I agree with XRAC you should look at other opportunities if you really like the duck you can sell for than with out being captive.

That is all well and good. However it is the credit issues I am having a problem with. The companies listed all sell mutual funds and annuities, which is why NYL turned me down to begin with. I am meeting with a bankruptcy lawyer with my wife tommorow. I guess I am stuck with a Lame Duck

The companies where you are most likely to be derailed are NYL, NWM, MM, and Guardian. You may have a chance with these lower tier companies. What is it going to cost you to talk to the companies I suggested? Most of us don't write the things we do because we think we are smarter than you but because we have walked the same road and have ALREADY made the mistakes.

By the way if you get really desperate, forgive me for saying this, try American Income. I think potentially you could make more money quicker with them than with AFLAC.

I am currently in roughly the same situation as you. I take the exam next Friday, and will start working with the District manager shortly thereafter. I'm not sure I will make money with AFLAC, but I look at it as more of a stepping-stone to something else – a way of deciding whether this is for me or not… because if working for Aflac doesn't make me quit, then I bet nothing will. If I heed the advise on this forum, anyway (and who am I to argue at this point?).

Look at it like this, you will at least get your health and life license out of this arrangement. Aflac has at least helped you in this way.

My credit is not superb either, and this is making my life very difficult. That said, not impossible: I am sure some insurer will appoint me. Until then I will work hard selling what I can.

I have been with the duck since feb 09. The biggest issue I have is that they have you going from b2b basically on foot. Many of the companies I've contacted have been "Aflac'd out". I've spent a lot of money on gas going to areas 30 & 40 miles away.

That doesn't mean you can't make money, it just means it's not easy.
