New to FL and P&C

Hello all. First off, this is a great site and I'm thankful that you all have been sharing as much info and experience as you have. it's been tough, but I've been trying to absorb as much as possible.

I moved to Tampa, Florida a couple of months ago (had to see about a girl...) and decided to get into the P&C business mainly for the residual income.

I passed the 2-20 Florida P&C exam and went on a few interviews, but I've been finding that it's hard to get into the P&C business without prior P&C experience.

Any advice as to who I can contact to get started in the Florida P&C market?

As an added bonus, I also have no natural market. Any advice as to how to get involved with the community would be great.

thanks for your help.

I've been in the insurance business in Indiana for less than a year, so I can relate. I immediately engaged in every public meeting I could find; city counsel, planning commission, free netwoking groups, etc. Getting involved with the workings of the community helped me insure two municipalities, five commercial lines and a solid number of individual personal lines. It takes a little time, patience and work, but it is working for me. Good luck.

PS. I'm not sure why I'm listed on this forum as licensed in ALabama. I have been unable to find a way to change it to Indiana. Maybe, somone could advise me on forum editing

Get linked up with a GA- General Agency. If you do a search here in the forums, people discuss Insurance noodle, Superior Access, and Networked Insurance Agents. Do a google search, pay the monthly fee and hit the phones! As far a s community, you have to network, network, network! Try the local Chamber of Commerce, RBN, etc. Wouldn't hurt to hit up your church, bank, softball team, whatever. Oh, start hitting up the restaurants you frequent. That's pretty good premium! Good luck
