Newbie Just Purchased Leads

I have been following and reading into this forum for about 3 weeks now. I'm a newly licensed agent about a month ago. I'm working the commercial side of P & C and the learning curve has been steep.
I signed up for netquotes this morning and it seemed straight foward enough. I was told by the csr that the leads would be sent to approximaltey 2 to 3 other agents in my area. Is this true or were they just trying to close the sale?

I am doing this to test the waters about leads generated online. The csr said that 60% of the leads are closed from agents using netquotes. So by my estimations for not losing more then the intial 200$'s is as follows.
15 free leads for opening the account
13.50 a lead (10% discount via a current carrier)
200/13.5 = ~ 14
29 commercial leads for $200 is that a good deal?
29/ 60% (average netquote close) = 17 possible closes
out of the 17 I am assuming I have anywhere between 10 to 20% close success out of those 17 that would use netquotes.
Giving me possibly 2 to 3 new accounts generated. Am I being realistic with the amount I want to close?

They were just trying to close the sale.

You got lied to...think for a minute...how would they know this?

This is what I was thinking. I am at least hoping that I can get 2 to 3 accounts from this. If it turns out to be a total failure then I learned from the experience and move on. Also I am really not sure what the quality is going to be like for these commercial leads because there are zero filter criteria accept for area. Nothing to do with the size of the company, its revenue, or how long its been in business.

I have just gotten frustrated as of late with cold calling and growing my book of x dates. I know this is a valuable tool to have in the future but I need more action asap. I chose not to take a draw and do straight comission, which I may or may not regret.

15 free leads or 30 days, whichever one comes first. Read the fine print....60 pct close, no way...Personally I am on my first & last go around with netquote...

Jack K., I enjoyed reading your books, but I thought that you went to the Great Bookstore in the sky some years ago.:skeptical:

BTW, Franz Kafka is a member of this forum, too.
