Hmmm.... Makes me think of a rerun of cowboys vs sodbusters.
It sounds like his hunting and gathering is at the grocery store so his system is dependent upon people who live in one place to supply the grocery stores.
His system is also dependent upon a functioning financial system that deals with the protection and movement of money (i.e. gold). I think that may also require some folks not living in tents.
