I am a captive agent at a brokerage company but I am NOT getting the training I need at all. I really don't know of anyone else in my town to go with so I feel I do need to stay where I'm at. I would love to hear any suggestions from seasoned agents as to where I can get online or books or further training in the senior market to become better acquainted with selling techniques as well as much better product knowledge on life/term insurance, long term care and medicare supplements and annuities. I have just been in this new field of senior insurance for 6 months. I have been in sales all my life (20 years) but not in this field. It is all new to me. I just really need the TRAINING for these products and how to sell it. Not looking to change where I am at though. I can deal with that, I just need the product knowledge. I represent alot of different carriers.

I offer training for Med Supps and sorta kinda FE.

Being captive should mean your company would be able to provide you with the basic training and product knowledge. I think there are a lot of online trainings available but it is best to get it from your own company in order to have a specific result.

I have tons of things I can send to you if you will email me at [email protected] I have some audio tapes, video tapes, link to good books, and you can ever call me and I will give you a push in the right direction...

I would advise you to take the offers from Frank and Mark but you also call some of the companies you broker directly and they can train you on specific products.
I cant imagine how well your company is gonna do anything right if that cant even train you.

But either way good luck to you.

The irony is that most agency GAs and supervisors are in the recruiting business because they couldn't produce on their own. So how could they train others to do what they couldn't do themselves? Find out how long your GA was in personal production and that'll explain why you're not getting any training. All the training you need can be found on the internet or at the library. Carriers training you? They all work for 5PM. Why should they care?

I've been in kind of the same situation too. But after a bit of observing here, you also will be able to better determine who on this forum you want to seek advice from. I did, and, so far listening to the advice Frank has been giving to me, and reading and taking to heart some of the good posts in here, it's gonna make me lots of $$$. They've all proved it to be. Don't try to re invent anything. Take the advice that's being given here. I only wish I had found this forum a long time ago.

Are you a licensed insurance agent? If so, what do you sell?
