Obama answered questions at todays press briefing.
Someone asked him if he was going to intervene in Calfornia on the Anthem requested increase. He answered that he did not think he had the authority to do that but that if he did have the authority he would have just issued an executive order "and saved myself all that grief up on the hill."
This very much follows on to our discussion from earlier today/yesterday wherein I said 1) that this Anthem thing was going to generate a lot of attention, wanted and unwanted, even if some thing that consumers in CA can work around it and 2) his comments clearly underscore my statement that he still has the Hillary mentality from the campagin wherein she stated that we will just tell the carriers what the premiums are going to be (without regard to their costs is the stated implication).
Probably someone will report tomorrow that Anthem is backing down a little. Okay, we know that will happen. The larger dynamic is still there though. Rising costs with a socialist headset that says that we need to find a way to just order them capped. Big learning curve ahead. As Obama directly stated today, if he had the power to do so today he would just issue an executive order.
Anyone remember Gerold Ford and WIN buttons that he handed out (whip inflation now). Price wage controls and all of that. Good gawd.
