Obamacare & Selling Individual Health Insurance in 2013 & 2014

We are approaching Oct 1, the begining of Obamacare. Any new thoughts on the impact Obamacare could have on health insurance agents? The last post about the subject was over a year ago. Has any one jumped on the ship to take advantage of the health reform changes in the coming months and become a agent/broker, or has anyone abandoned the health insurance ship to flee for life? ANy thoughts or comments?

everyone got out... as you should.... there is no future for agents selling health insurance... double so for those that sell belly button to belly button.... that style will force the agent to probably use high pressure tactics that could/will result in CMS infractions and cause harm to the rest of the agents in the industry

I think, we are on fence with Oct.Obama drama.
I just passed State Require exam & Become Certified Agent...
Let's see, It will pay my bills or I have to jmp from Hill....Just Kidding.

In our agency we are not sure. How can anyone really know. We do see a lot of opportunity to help individuals and families out. So we are going gung-ho in marketing for the next few years. It's really about volume to make this work. I've passed my test here is CA but I've been waiting for the agent agreement and option to send in my E&O.

I am an independent guy and I am still trying to figure out if I have all my ducks in a row to take part in the exchanges. I don't plan on doing it but if I have a current client that wants it....well better I get the money than my competition.

I've done all the marketplace test and accepted the agreements, I've done SHOP tests and agreements. I set up the Enterprise Portal on the CMS site but I can not find the FFM ID that was supposed to be generated. Where the heck is it? I would not be able to get on the CMS Portal if I had not passed the tests and given my National Producer Number.

"FFM ID: The Federally-Facilitated Marketplace Identification (FFM ID) is activated by CMS as part of the certification process."

I've been in the insurance business since 1984 and this government crap is always the most convoluted confusing stuff.

I love the idea of Guy Fawkes who fights against a fictional fascist. Yea I know it wasn't his real goal but someone has to dream about the boot of government getting off our necks.

The media sincere? They are sincerely stupid because they would never even think to consider that the subsidy is a scheme to hide the real cost. The scheme will go until the house of cards falls down.

The HHS describes their plans - "The five levels of generosity." The generosity is taking from another to pay this guys health insurance. Socialists always think they are generous when they are taking from you.

Stories like this cause emotions that's hard for me to describe. I just want to call this guy a LIAR and label CBS News as GULLIBLE. But what if he's sincere? I don't know...

Just got licensed and found this forum. Wondering how everyone is feeling about the business now that the exchanges are up and running. I'm going to be listed on the exchange but plan to sell outside of it as well.
