Obamacare Subsidies in Jeopardy

10 pages of "its a cluster!"

I appreciated the flow chart, though. It gave me a headache.....

That's why people need to use an agent. Hc.gov should be able to give them my name and phone number when a person is confused. It would relieve them of a lot of burden. The rep should be able to enter their zipcode and pull a certified agent name and number up. Win win....happy customer less hassle for hc.gov and more biz for us.

There you go trying to use common sense.....

I talked to a agent who had submitted 17 policies and as of about 3 weeks ago was still not paid on them.

Too much wine and eating ice cream too fast gives me a headache.

I am getting calls from clients who sent their proof of income in with delivery confirmation. They are now getting requests to send their info in again, even though they have proof it was delivered...

But do they have proof the information was opened, read, and filed?

If not, there's your problem.

Yeah but that portion is out of their control and since articles have surfaced stating employees for a company employed by CMS paid employees to NOT enter data for 8 hours at a time what a cluster fudgecicle.

How can you "prove" 2014 income in June of 2014? I remember healthcare.gov asking that applicants submit proof of 2014 income no later than March 2014. We thought it was just another glitch and exited out.

People were paid $500,000,000 to design this system. They're now laughing their arses off, living the good life...for life.

It's not "proof that your income will be exactly $xxx for the year" it's "proof your income could reasonably be what you claimed for the year".

EX: Client filed $49,000 of income last year (2012 taxes filed in 2013). When filing for a plan effective 1/1/14, they claimed they make $25,000. Red flag, those numbers are not the same. Gov't will request proof that your income for 2014 will reasonably be $25,000, and not $49,000. Client indicates that they have a new job, and shows a few paystubs indicating a bit over $480/week in pay. Voila, gov't believes, and has proof, the income could reasonably be $25,000.

Of course, the subsidy will be reconciled with the actual, exact income come tax time and it all washes out (in accordance with clawbacks/etc). They don't care about $26,000 reality vs. $25,000 estimate, they care about the big changes.

those who were employed by an employer did not receive this notification with a subsidy eligibility letter. Only those who were self-employed received this notification with their letter. as you can imagine it is virtually impossible to send proof of future sales to anyone.
