Oxendine Will Not Implement First Phase Of Federal Health Care Le

Re: Oxendine Will Not Implement First Phase Of Federal Health Car

The states are not participating in the high risk pool have all stated that the federal funding is not enough to fund the claims.

federal funding is not enough to fund the claims.

Of course it isn't.

Nor will be the premiums charged to participants be sufficient to make up the difference.

What is happening now in the marketplace is both interesting and frightening.

Smaller carriers like Antex pulling out (who will be next?). Golden Rule no longer offers maternity or child only plans. Aetna just made a major announcement (to policyholders, not agents of course) that all policies more than a year old are getting a rate increase in July.

For some, that is the 2nd increase this year.

Anyone who had copay plans will see a reduction in benefits and a rate increase. Those with Value plans are suffering the biggest loss of benefits.

Time pulled maternity and multi-year rate guarantees.

Humana is playing it close to the vest until there are more details from HHS on children's plans.

Locally at least, BX has been eerily silent on everything.

Cigna is still trying to figure out if they are in or out.

HMO"s will probably fare better. Overall I have had good experience with KP. They are a bit pricey right now, and have been for a couple of years, but it follows the "you get what you pay for".

Solid benefits (with most of their plans) and lower OOP on a major claim than any comparable PPO/POS.

I really expect the gap between their rates and those of PPO/POS to narrow over the next 2 years. That is here. May not be the same in your area.

And the narrowing in rates won't be KP going down, it will be all the other carriers going up.

Absolutely!

Would be nice if Kaiser paid more than $6/month per enrollment. Not even worth the time.
