Folks, before you go assaulting me for not checking the forums pages listed previously I was just wondering if someone had something that is specifically designed for the P&C Agent in mind. I use Salesforce currently and another CRM that I have through Superior Access but I just feel like there should be something out there that is much simpler, faster and concentrated on the key things you need to hold onto for your P&C customers, whether that is Auto/Home/Commercial etc. etc. . .

Inability to store by ex-date. P & C for the most part is not sold whenever the buyer agrees whenever during the course of a year but instead is sold when the current policy expires (hence ex-date). I need to be able to track my contacts by when the ex-date occurs and by the date before the ex-date occurs when I want to contact the prospect. If commercial lines, you need lead time to market the account to the companies. The ex-date is the crucial element it all revolves around.

Well, I am building a CRM specifically for me because of reasons like that, so I am remedying them in my program, I am looking for a P&C person who wants to test it for free to help me improve it once I get the initial program complete.

Do either of you want to do that?

I'd be up for trying out your "Beta" and giving you some comments. Was thinking about building my own for a while also. I just really want the most simple, nuts and bolts types of applications for it. My problem is I HATE entering in any of the stuff but don't want to deligate it to my secretary because she's "shared" with my office mate who isn't in insurance. Basically just a receptionist.

I'll try it out!!

I'll pass. I am sure you are doing an incredible job but I quit downloading things for the fear of a nasty virus. Also, I did download a 30 day trial of ACT, which I liked very much other than not being able to track ex-dates. However, ACT really messed up Outlook to the point I could not send or receive emails. I got it fixed but it wasn't fun. Keep us posted on your CRM as I'll keep a watch out for how it is developing. Best of luck!

Yeah, I use ACT now, and it works, but not well at all. it fails on me daily. What a pain in the arse

I've given this CRM thing a lot of thought and I have looked at a lot of them and none seem to fit the bill. I am curious if any comm'l P & C agts out there successfully use a CRM or does the agency mgt system fill the bill? The latter would not work for me as I am detached working out of my house 60 miles away from the agency. From what I have seen, what I like the best is Frank Stasny's YIO and would love a version of that for P & C. Heck, I wouldn't even care if it is in the cloud or not. For that matter, I wouldn't even care if it was done in Access as opposed to SQL. All I want is something that works for a single agent detached from the main office.

I use Oprius. It's about $14 a month.
You can store the X date and set a call or event 3 months in advance to notify you.
I tried a bunch of systems...this one is simple, cheap and works.
