I'm suggesting that a prospect with group health insurance, turning 65, should apply for part A. He asked if he needed to notify his employer or group health plan that he would have part A. I didn't know what to say. Does anyone out there know? Thanks!
It isn't necessary to notify the employer. But, there's no harm in doing so. If the employer has 20+ employees, their Group coverage will still be primary. Make sure your that neither your prospect nor their employer is contributing to an HSA.
I agree with MichFlor that there is no need to notify the employer. But your prospect may not want to advertise to the employer his/her age. Yes, I know that at some point they gave the employer that information.
