You're probably right, I was just guessing about Universal N. America. Haven't heard much about Safeway. Somebody told me that their Florida home owners paper wasn't A rated...who knows if they new what they were talking about.
We have Safeco so that could bean option. Everything he has now is separated, including 5 rental properties that are with Citizens which is another issue all together since they only have the $100k liability.
Citizens makes things tough. Another option would be to write a standalone liability policy, and exclude liability on the Dp's. so that way your underlying carrier is probably AM BEST rated. Auto-Owners is by far the cheapest liability policy I have come across. I have 1 client who has 4 rentals and 1 Mil Liability on the 4 and the price is $350 give or take a little. They will also write the 5 Mil Umbrella.
