Progressive Appointments - Anything to Be Wary of in Contract?

Re: Progressive Appointments - Anything to Be Wary of in Contract

Funny, when I went IA, I got prog for the toys, to which I found Safeco is generally much cheaper on toys than Prog is......

Oh ok. I love Safeco. 80% of the time they are the best priced in PL stuff.

Nothing wrong with progressive other than a slightly lower commission and rates that are consistently high. For most agents with good market access they are a carrier of last resort. I do like the ease of use their website provides... wish a few better carriers could copy their web features.

Yea..they are my carrier of last resort. And they know it too. Had a agent leave and go start her own agency a few years back she lied on her appointment forms, lied in the interview with Progressive. There is a lot more that this agent did that I will not go into but needless to say progressive was the only company that did appoint her that I had contracts with. After they told me that they wouldn't. Progressive would appoint anyone!

might depend on state, but isnt a progressive policy named driver only, so if you loan your car to someone the liabilty limits drop to state minimum only?

Yeah, their technology is terrific compared to all my other carriers. I like em for motorcycles as much as anything.

was it hard getting safeco?

Not to Hijack the thread;

Our agency has met with Safeco twice and still no appointment. We have shown them growth, sales tracking and a very impressive business structure that fills a 1" 3 ring binder. Plus a partner in our agency knows the regional sales manager and still nothing. They keep saying its not us its them. :skeptical:

We have found other companies that will compete with Safeco for home and auto but do not offer the back-end bonuses that Safeco offers.
