Protect UHC Renewals with a Corporation?

I know I've seen this elsewhere, but here's what Aetna has to say:

All producers are required to complete the certification program and be licensed and appointed before engaging in any sales-related activities involving Aetna Medicare Individual plans (MA, MAPD, PDP). In addition, producers must successfully complete this certification program to receive renewal commissions in 2011 for Aetna Medicare Individual plans.

This is a CMS rule, not Aetna's.

Rick

If CMS is the one who said that, then why did you say "but here's what Aetna has to say" ?

Thanks for the info Rick.
Do you have a reference for that?

My upline seems to think the same way I do, that recerts are for selling and not for renewals.

In all seriousness, does anyone build a successful insurance business marketing Medicare Supplements and or MAPDs and leave it to chance that all their hard work will not be able to be left to their heirs?
FRANK????

Just how long do you think some senior is going to stay in your products when they no longer hear from you and some other agent comes in the door...Personally I believe your MAPD business will go south the quickest because it seems there are changes in those plans yearly unlike the Med Supp changes.

Because that's the first reference I found.

CMS rules state that all producers must be in "good standing" to receive any renewal commissions. Given that, you need to certify every year to be in good standing.

Why not call any of your carriers and ask them the question?

As a followup, Coventry confirmed this is a CMS requirment and new for 2011. In the past, there was no need to re-certify to continue to receive commissions. This has now changed.

It may only be the new CMS standard for 2011 but I know carriers previously took that to recieve compensation you must be certified on the plan and that included renewals.

Commissions are a contractual arrangement between you and the insurance company. Just as they can change the rate of commission they also impose conditions under which ;you receive future renewals.
