Publication Editor

Al, I have to give you credit...you are an excellent instigator.

I'm not sure about instigator but I have been a professional editorialist forty of my sixty years... going all the way back to my harangues against the separate-but-(un)equal when I lived in the South and later on the Vietnam war. I've owned a small publishing company (adams-blake.com) and from twenty years in that business I've learned how to "use" the language as well as the media to... shall we say... stir emotions.

Believe me, you would not publish anything I write about this industry in your magazine, but the 800 or so subscribers to my newsletter "love" me because I'm on THEIR side, not the carrier's side.

The one thing I've learned is that people act on emotion and justify with logic. If you want someone to think about your position or your idea, appeal to them emotionally, not logically. That's part of what I do here, but most of this board is made up of people with made-up minds and when a man or woman absolutely believes the moon is blue, well that's about as far as you are going to get with them.

However I do get a smattering of PMs and private mail telling to keep doing what I'm doing... which is mostly just pissing people here off.

In my professional life I surround myself with agents and business colleagues who are more eclectic in their thinking than most people here and who instead of asking "why" they prefer, like me, to ask "why not?"

Follow the advice given earlier. You will be much happier if you ignore me. My posts only appeal to a very few number of agents here. The rest pay me no mind... that is expected ... and I believe best for the vast majority of agents on this board.

In the Sacramento area I'm known by the SAHU/NAHU people as the "anti-agent." I'm rather proud of that. Here I'm just "the jackass" but I'm just as proud of that as well.
