Question on Exchange Clients

If my 2015 exchange clients want to switch to another carrier's plan for 2016 AEP, will the switch to a new 2016 exchange plan cancel the 2015 exchange plan (like MAPD plans) or does the member need to actually contact the carrier to cancel so it is not renewed?

The answer is both and it depends on how u do 2016 app.

Carrier can't term, but have client stop payment method

Wonder how a w.b.e. handles the cancellation of the 15' app?????

Best way is to be proactive and, once the 2016 plan is approved, go thru the backdoor of healthcare.gov (before December 15th) and terminate the 2015 coverage, it only takes a couple of minutes and you will not have an issue with duplicate coverage.
