That is just part of the business.
This happens to me almost daily.
In Texas, all the Hispanic families stay either close by or they all live together. Usually, a daughter is taking care of the parents.
The daughter always comes in, cold as ice and tries to break up the sales presentation.
What I usually do is stop what I'm doing and give the daughter full attention.
I start all over. Hi, my name is Jody. I'm glad you have come home. Do you have a second, I would like to catch you up on what we are talking about.
Then I ask, "Are you the granddaughter?" (she looks old as hell but that always softens things up).
They will usually say, "God no!" I have two grand kids myself (or whatever).
I say, "Really??? No way!!" You must have started your family really young.
By this time, she is blushing.
I will then ask if she grew up here... and after awhile I've got the daughter talking and the ice is slowly melting. After 10 minutes or so... BACK TO THE PRESENTATION... from the beginning.
Depending on the daughters educational level, I will sometimes have to demonstrate in detail why this is best for her parents but most of the time, the daughter becomes my captive audience and agrees to buy whatever I feel is best for them (especially when we put her as the beneficiary )
You just have to warm them up... start all over...
You will still get kicked out sometimes, but you can usually keep that from happening if you stop, drop, and roll her into the sales presentation.
Good point. When that daughter barged into the house yelling... I caught myself at a loss for words...which rarely happens! I definitly stopped and dropped, I just took a minute before I started rolling. Ill let you guys know what she says, if anything, in a few days.
